Rear Brakes
Section titled “Rear Brakes”The E46 330 rear brakes use 320x20mm ventilated rotors. The rear also incorporates a drum-in-disc parking brake mechanism.
Pad and Rotor Replacement
Section titled “Pad and Rotor Replacement”Similar to front brakes with the following differences:
- Rear caliper carrier bolts: 65 Nm
- Rear caliper guide pin bolts: 30 Nm
- Rear piston may require rotation tool to compress (piston screws in)
- Parking brake shoes must be adjusted after rotor replacement
Parking Brake Shoes
Section titled “Parking Brake Shoes”When replacing rear rotors, inspect parking brake shoes:
- Remove rotor to access shoes
- Check shoe thickness (minimum 1.5mm lining)
- Adjust star wheel for proper clearance after assembly
Rear Brake Specifications
Section titled “Rear Brake Specifications”- Rotor: 320x20mm ventilated
- Minimum thickness: 17.4mm
- Caliper: Single-piston floating
