Wheel Alignment

Proper alignment is critical for tire wear, handling, and safety. The E46 offers limited factory adjustability but aftermarket solutions expand adjustment range.

  • Camber: -0°30’ ± 30’
  • Caster: +7°30’ ± 30’
  • Toe (per side): +0°05’ ± 5’ (slight toe-in)
  • Total toe: +0°10’ ± 10’
  • Camber: -1°50’ ± 20’
  • Toe (per side): +0°10’ ± 10’ (toe-in)
  • Total toe: +0°20’ ± 10’

The factory alignment adjustability is limited:

  • Front camber: Eccentric bolt on strut-to-knuckle connection
  • Front toe: Tie rod adjustment
  • Front caster: Not adjustable (set by subframe position)
  • Rear camber: Eccentric bolt on upper control arm
  • Rear toe: Eccentric bolt on toe link

For improved handling while maintaining reasonable tire wear:

  • Front camber: -1.0° to -1.5°
  • Rear camber: -1.5° to -2.0°
  • Front toe: 0° to +0°05’ per side
  • Rear toe: +0°10’ per side
