Rear Trailing Arm Bushings (RTAB)

The rear trailing arm bushings are one of the most commonly worn suspension components on the E46. They connect the trailing arm to the rear subframe.

  • Clunking from rear over bumps
  • Rear-end feeling loose or wandering
  • Excessive rear tire wear (inner or outer edge)
  • Visible cracking or deformation of rubber
  • Failed rear alignment (cannot set toe)
  • OEM rubber: Factory ride quality, ~60k mile lifespan
  • Lemförder: OEM supplier
  • Powerflex: Polyurethane, longer lasting, slightly more NVH
  • BimmerWorld Delrin: Solid, track-oriented, most NVH
  • Turner Motorsport monoball: Race use, full articulation
  • Trailing arm bushing: 33 32 6 770 861
  • Bushing requires a hydraulic press for installation
  • Press old bushing out, new bushing in
  • Note orientation marks on bushing
  • Torque trailing arm bolt to 110 Nm at ride height
  • Alignment required after replacement
