Rear Trailing Arm Bushings (RTAB)
Section titled “Rear Trailing Arm Bushings (RTAB)”The rear trailing arm bushings are one of the most commonly worn suspension components on the E46. They connect the trailing arm to the rear subframe.
Symptoms of Worn RTABs
Section titled “Symptoms of Worn RTABs”- Clunking from rear over bumps
- Rear-end feeling loose or wandering
- Excessive rear tire wear (inner or outer edge)
- Visible cracking or deformation of rubber
- Failed rear alignment (cannot set toe)

- Powerflex: Polyurethane, longer lasting, slightly more NVH

- Bushing requires a hydraulic press for installation
Installation Notes
Section titled “Installation Notes”- Press old bushing out, new bushing in
- Note orientation marks on bushing
- Torque trailing arm bolt to 110 Nm at ride height
- Alignment required after replacement
